Not many years ago a Boston columnist wrote
"Why do Catholics Worship a wafer of bread?"

What would your answer be?
How about if I asked you...

What is transubstantiation?
What is the Real Presence?
What exactly happened on Holy Thursday?
Why is understanding these questions central to calling yourself Catholic?
Is the Eucharist a meal or a sacrifice or both or neither?
Why does the Catholic Church describe the Eucharist, i.e., the Sacrifice of the Mass, as
"the source and summit of the Christian life" ?

The universal Catholic Church is in the midst of a Eucharistic Revival to remind us all of
what the Eucharist is and is not.

For so many of us our understanding and appreciation of the Eucharist peaked many years
ago when we "completed" our religious education and "graduated" from learning the faith
at our Confirmation.

Here at St. John The Evangelist, we are offering a short series on the Eucharist.
But the series is more than just talks.

Sunday, April 7th at 11:30am we begin with lunch and an introductory talk by Deacon
John followed by small group sharing on our understandings of the Eucharist

Sunday, April 14th at 11:30am we begin with lunch and a talk by Deacon Richard
followed by small group sharing. Following that we will have 1/2 hour of Adoration in the
Welcome Center. At the conclusion we will have Benediction (A Blessing of all present with
the Monstrance containing the Blessed Sacrament).

Sunday, April 21st, 11:30am Same format. The final presentation will be given by Fr. Tom.

Our Eucharistic Revival is open to one and all. Remember, this is not a substitute for the
Holy Mass but an opportunity for us to break bread together, learn more about the
Eucharist, and praise and thank God in Adoration.
There is no cost to you or your family... even your lunch is free.
Please reserve those three Sundays to join us.
